The Open University (Open Universiteit Nederland )
The Open university is founded in 1984 and is thereby the youngest university of the Netherlands. It is the only university for higher education that teaches through distance learning. The three main issues for the university are innovation of higher education, to help to ensure that there are sufficient teachers and life long learning.
One of the centres of expertise of within the Open university is The Ruud the Moor Centre (RdMC), which improves the professionalisation of teachers and focuses on the quality of (online) workplace learning.

Leiden University
Leiden University is the oldest university in the Netherlands, founded in 1575. The university has approximately 17,000 students and 4,000 staff members and consists of nine faculties, offering a varied range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes. In addition, several units offer post-academic training, among which the Graduate School of Teaching (ICLON), the unit that participated in the Ovide project.
